Sing-Along & Art with Persons with Memory Disorders

6.jpg

Several members of our association have participated in singing- along in closed care homes and daycare centers. At times, music turn into dances.

The range of music ranges from rock to traditional waltzes.

The Lucia Festival has been a part of our repertoire from the very beginning. Elena Ylönen and Sari Laine started it already in 2007 with the band Justiinat seven years before the foundation of the association.

At Lucia gigs, the audience is given musical instruments and then we sing Christmas songs together.

We have also been to places where some of the participants have been bed patients. Once, a hand rose over the edge of a hospital bed, swinging with the music.

Some of our clients have enjoyed vocal singing and finding body resonance.

We've also done drama in a few places.

We are no strangers to any means of music or the arts when it comes to making contact with someone who is, as a result of illness, hiding from herself or himself

When contact occurs, it cannot be described in words. Fortunately, we have art.

Music painting is also successful for those who do not have the ability to speak.

The number of times these severely ill people have brought light into our lives is numerous. Tears of movement and joy cannot be avoided in this activity. We laugh often and a lot.
